Shayna Dragon Fruit variety Dragon Fruit is a hybrid variety that comes from a Selenicereus Guatemalensis hybrid and Selenicereus Undatus. The Selenicereus Guatemalensis hybrid is the Condor variety. Shayna produces a one-pound perfectly round-shaped fruit. The external appearance of the fruit is reddish to pink skin with small green fins. The inner flesh is a bright purple color with a semi-firm texture and lots of juice. The first fruit tested in 2019 had an average brix score of 19. The flowers are plentiful and fragrant and are self-fertile. Shayna is a very vigorous grower that can have segments up to 5 feet in length. Stems resemble typical Selenicereus Guatemalensis growth with a heart-shaped rib and small spines
The flesh inside is a bright purple color and has a semi-firm, juicy texture. The bloom cycle has been 2-3 every year. The plant grows in smaller segments. Medium annual new growth.
Self Pollinating but we have had some flowers take and some not. When self pollinated, and fruit sets, it has produced smaller; we recommend cross pollination for set and larger fruit. Blooms tend to be earlier in season. Blooms with American Beauty, Robles, Sugar Dragon.The mother plant is from Edgar Valdivia around 2016-2017.
