The Purple Ocamponis Morada, originally from Mexico. These unique Ocamponis varieties are typically found in low dry forests, rock outcrops, and large rock formations in their natural habitat. The plant is a robust yet slow grower, featuring intriguing grayish-green stems that form thick, three-sided segments with spines.
One of the most remarkable aspects of this plant is its impressive blooms, which showcase bright colors and can reach up to 15 inches in diameter. Note that this variety is not self-pollinating and will require hand pollination. Once pollinated, the fruit is egg-shaped, weighing an average of one pound, and boasts a distinctive appearance. The fruit resembles Tricia, but is more elongated. Fruit, if picked late, has a beet taste and crunchy texture. We recommend picking the fruit right when it starts changing color.
This variety is particularly well-suited to dry and hot climates, but also demonstrates good cold tolerance
